Lalou & Joaquin both started their careers in independent film, criss-crossing the global festival circuit with an array of award-winning films. Joaquin was the DoP on the Oscar-nominated The Lady in Waiting while still at NYU, followed by the cult comedy classic Super Troopers, the critically acclaimed We Own the Night and Two Lovers for James Gray, Mike Mills’ debut feature, Thumbsucker, as well as James Gray’s film Paper Tiger, which premiered to a 10 minute standing ovation in competition at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.

As a team, Lalou & Joaquin directed Rick Younger Presents The Rick Younger Show, which won best pilot at 2024 NY Webfest, and was one of 4 pilots selected for the 2024 Harlem International Film Festival. In advertising, they’ve done numerous campaigns for leading global brands with accolades at Cannes, The Clios, AICP/MoMA, D&AD, Ciclope, The Andys, The One Show and a DGA Best Director Nomination. They also run the Craftwork Collaborative mentorship program for young creatives and they both live in New York City.
